Our people

As with any organisation, we simply could not exist without the generosity and countless hours of dedication from our staff, congregation and amazing volunteers. Meet some of our people below:

The Reverend
John Shoaf

John comes to New Zealand from California and served three years in Christchurch parishes before moving to Timaru in 2014.
He loves the South Canterbury area and gives thanks to God for his congregation and the community.

Musical Director:
Lucy Dillon

Lucy moved here from Perth and joined us as Musical Director in 2017 and has helped to develop both the St Mary's adult and children's choirs.  She is an accomplished violinist and loves bringing together vocal and instrumental music.  She is available to play for weddings and other functions.

The St Mary's Choir

St Mary's has long enjoyed a choral tradition and the congregation puts great importance on continuing that tradition.  The choir sings every Sunday morning throughout the year except in January, and also offers concerts and other special events.

The St Mary's Childrens Choir

The Children's Choir has also been a tradition for many years and Lucy is working on building it up for the future.  The children work hard on making a beautiful sound for our parishioners and community audiences.
